Let's see the potential flaming i get for supporting Apple products (OS X included).
1) Hardcore local product supporters: "Creative is better! It has FM, voice recording and prob plays golf too! Creative mp3 players can play a range of a few measly decibels higher than the iPod! iPods are too plain!! We support functionality and not design!! We support local!!"
2) Hardcore Windoze (ooopss) users: "Microsoft is better! We can run much more programs on XP! We dun mind the frequent crashes! Hardware compatibility is not a problem!! Macs are too hard to learn! Macs have too little programs for me to use! We support Microsoft!!"
Okie, let's see. Creative has a TON of mp3 players. I dun remember the term, but it's something like having too many products of the same functionality (mp3 players being in question here) kills off your own products. And their design is well, crap. A 30GB Zen Vision: M costs SGD700 and above (i think) and it resembles a brick, as compared to an iPod video 30GB which is tonnes slimmer (or sexier if u may).
Consumers don't go by functionality nowadays, Mr Sim. What sells beer? An ad of Jessica Alba or an ad of how Tiger beer can cheer you up, give you beer bellies etc etc? What sells a product? An mp3 player jam packed with ALL the features but has no bloody appeal at all, or a well designed product that acts on the senses and still provide outstanding performance? I guess it's obvious to me. Moreover, Mr Sim sealed his fate by publicly putting down Apple products, calling Jobs names and all. I mean how idiotic can he get? His silly antics has shown him to be a sore loser and probably an incompetent nincompoop. Poor Creative has to post unsatisfactory huge losses and pulled out of the mp3 player war. I really want to ask him, "What happened to destroying the iPod? Why are you pulling out with your tail between your legs??" Funny man. He should stick to the SoundCard business (which is declining too LOL).
Windows users always bash Mac users. They say there ain't enuff programs to use and all, but all they do on their Windoze machines is to use MS Word and surf the net. Do they know most design/creative firms use Macs? Bet you din know that buddy. They say Macs are lousy ("Where's the start button?"), blah blah blah. And yet they do not know how to troubleshoot their own computers when something disastrous happens to their computers, which of course happens quite often to Windoze. Disaster comes in the form of viruses/trojans/worms. There is ONE Mac virus, but it was eradicated even before it dared to rear its ugly head.
So much for all the arguing about Apple products. I dig them cos they are cool. Simple as that. The designs are visually pleasing (hey we all know appearances are important, dun kid yourself), and they function very well. Oh off the record, I have a friend exchanging his Creative Zen 20GB 4 times in the first 5 days he bought it. WELL! I do programming, but not on the Mac platform yet. I do look forward to learning to program in Xcode and Quartz which are the programming platform and graphics engine respectively. Oh for you windoze users out there, I can confidently tell you that a Mac does all a windoze machine does (except for games man but i expect more games to surface since all Macs are gonna be Intel-based soon) and probably more.
